Lead Platform Engineer

In the role of Platform Engineer Lead, you will be responsible for optimizing the NIKE’s applications on its Business Intelligence and Data Visualization enterprise platforms. Specifically, providing technical engineering and support for client, server, and network hardware; offer technical support and administer packaged applications and software; give operational support such as solving complex application and report or dashboard content issues; provide technical security support; create and maintain automated deployment processes; oversee technical vendor relationships; provide system monitoring. Coordinate and execute environment builds and advance augmented analytics capabilities; and execution using SAFE agile processes.

In this senior position, you'll provide leadership within the team, including providing training to staff by participating in work planning, process development, resource optimization, goal setting, and coaching.

Build solutions for large and sophisticated data-driven applications (30%)

- Contribute to cloud migration and evolution of Business Intelligence and Data Visualization applications on Public Cloud providers

- Demonstrate special expertise within the deployment and configuration of reporting applications

- Work independently to handle IBM Cognos Analytics and major upgrades; install for North America, Europe and China distribution centers;

- Install and configure observability applications (i.e., Splunk, Newrelic) on Linux and Windows servers

- On-board new reporting and/or re-platforming existing platforms

- Define the scope, assumptions, and dependencies IBM Cognos system performance

- Able to explain technical challenges or solutions to customers and management team, and if needed influences others to adopt a different point of view

Perform reconciliation and test cases of developed solutions (10%)

- Carry out performance and connectivity testing for the IBM Cognos Analytics application to various data storage instances, which have moved from “On Premises” to AWS cloud

- Prepare test cases and regression testing before and after upgrades and patching

- Develop automated testing suites using SDK

Design, develop, and support application solutions using IBM Cognos Analytics (15%)

- Take ownership of the overall performance and continual improvement and optimize application capacity by coordinating with key partners in business-facing development teams

- Meet the IBM Cognos vendor contacts on a regular basis to analyze and resolve software upgrades, functionality issues, and health assessment activities

- Leads others to resolve difficult issues or problems by suggesting innovative solutions

Identify, assess, and resolve issues regarding escalation and problems in existing applications (10%)

- Perform IBM Cognos production support functions such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

- Perform troubleshoot of urgent/critical issues that have business impact and support offshore team in resolving

- Support change management using ServiceNow tool

Execute monitor and performance tuning (10%)

- Be the Single Point of Contact (SPC) for improvement, optimization, and issues related to IBM Cognos Analytics platform

Participate in all phases of development lifecycle and post implementation support (10%)

- Plan, engineer, and implement robust and cost-effective platform implementations

- Identify and automate tasks using Linux, Terraform, and Puppet such as automation, maintenance, and enhancement of IBM Cognos and database connectivity

- Manage application security integration with Active Directory/Ldap and Kerberos

- Align with corporate security standards/policy

Collaborate and share knowledge (15%)

- Technical leadership / mentorship in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline software development team environment

- Drive a product roadmap in partnership with Global Technology partners

- Independently manages large projects and multi-functional teams

- Participate in defining and executing policies and practices for operational efficiency

- Participate in daily standup meeting with BI platform director, scrum master, and product owners using JIRA tool

- Work with Support and Infrastructure teams to resolve any critical performance issue and meet the Release Management Team to discuss IBM Cognos releases

- Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

- 5 years-experience with large-scale enterprise, production-grade software development & platform engineering

- 5 years of platform engineering experience with commercial business intelligence applications (IBM Cognos, IBM Planning Analytics, Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI preferred)

- Experience with report development and report data modeling preferred

- Proven technical leadership

- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP or similar cloud platform

- Experience delivering projects in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment

- Demonstrable ability to lead and mentor other engineers
