WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, product-minded data scientist who is passionate about working on novel applications of data science within Nikes.  Examples of emerging areas include data science for digital product design, interactive retail experiences, and sports marketing.  The goal is to lay the foundation over the next few years for leveraging data and data science at scale within these spaces. 

 

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON

In this role, you will…

  • Contribute to all stages of model development, from creating proof-of-concepts and beta testing, to partnering with data engineering, machine learning platform, and product teams to deploy algorithms, evaluate the A/B test results and deliver value in alignment with roadmap and business needs.
  • Strive to constantly improve model performance using insights from rigorous offline and online experimentation.
  • Adhere to software engineering best practices and contribute to shared code repositories.
  • Document modeling work and present to stakeholders and other technical and non-technical partners.
  • Participate in the broader data science community within Nike, including data science labs, study groups and team activities.

 

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

You will be a member of the Emerging Areas Data Science team.  This team is part of Nike’s Consumer Data Science team and Insights function. So you will be a member of the broader data science team at Nike, and participate in our data science labs, study groups, team activities, and attend conferences.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience developing and delivering effective machine learning and/or statistical models to serve business needs. Will accept suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing models for production scale highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Python required.
  • Excellent data wrangling skills. SQL required. Working knowledge of Spark is a plus.
  • Expertise in recommender systems and e-commerce is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally required.
  • Experience presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences and a history of publications or presentations at conferences is a plus.
  • A degree in computer science, statistics, applied math, physics, or other quantitative discipline, (Masters or PhD). Will accept suitable combination of education and experience

Open to remote work, except cannot work in Colorado, South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. These candidates will be required to relocate.
